I AM WORKING ON the following composition projects:
• a new piece for CONTACT contemporary music, from Toronto. We're in the planning stages for a concert in June of 2008.
• a new piece for duo Contour, for percussion, trumpet, and electronics, premiere March 2008
Some of my other projects include:
• the sonict duo, my group with saxophonist Matt Sintchak which features works with saxophone, video, and electronic performer. We are performing 4 concerts in Western NY at Eastman, Buffalo, Nazareth, and Hallwalls in February 2008.
• working with the Sonict Ensemble at UW-Whitewater. We currently perform 6-8 concerts a year as part of the series, including 2 by the group plus several visiting artist concerts. In 2007-8, we are bringing multimedia shows by composer/performers Mark Snyder and Jim Phelps, duo Contour (percussion/trumpet), and pianist Stacey Barelos. We are also sponsoring two student composers concerts.
• working with video artists, Heidi E. Johnson and Eric Allin, and percussionist Eric Sheffield on live music/video improvisations for a cable access show, called Conundrum, which airs on Cable Channel 4 in Madison, WI.
• recording a new series of songs with collaborator, Eric Sheffield. We started recording in June 2006, and we're finally nearing completion.
• recording a new series of songs with collaborator, Craig Zahler, for a band called Realmbuilder. We started recording in August 2007.
Upcoming and recent performances of my work include:
• November 2007 performances of aluminum leaves by percussionist Eric Sheffield at UW-Whitewater and at the Electroacoustic Juke Joint in Cleveland, MS
• November 2007 performance of cloud carriage at the Visiones Sonoras Festival 2007 in Morelia, Mexico
• December 2007 and February/March 2008 performances of Design, version for clarinet with video, by Mark Snyder, at various clubs and universities, including Barbés (Brooklyn), Oberlin, Ohio Univ., UW-Whitewater, Morehead State, and University of Mary Washington.
• March/April 2008 performances of a glance at the sun for Duo Contour, trumpet and percussion, with shows at Coe College, UW-Whitewater, University of Iowa, Iowa State, Northern Illinois University, and several other schools.
• February 2008 peformance of Velvet Sink by pianist Todd Welbourne, at UW-Madison.
• February 2008 performances by my duo, Sonict, including barn work, and a version of instances for saxophone and new video by Jim Vannes.
• June 2008 performance of a new work for CONTACT contemporary music, performed as part of the soundaXis festival of music, architecture, and acoustics in Toronto.
